Who will I ride?
Horses will be selected based on the needs of the rider as well as the needs of the horse. Some of our horses are great for soft handed riders while others do well with a stronger pull of the reins. Each horse also has a weight limit that we will consider.

What discipline will I ride?
We offer lessons in English, Western, and Dressage. When you sign up for a lesson be sure to tell your instructor which you prefer. If you do not know what style of riding you want to do, try them all! One of the best parts about riding lessons is that you can develop your preferences because you have access to riding multiple different horses and disciplines!

How long are the lessons?
The first lesson will usually run an hour. All riders will start out with private lessons that are thirty minutes. Once they can stop, start, and steer independently they will move to an hour group lesson of up to four riders.

Where should I park?
Our farm is on the left of the shared gravel lane. You can park in front of the horse barn (the one that says "Willis Farm", or you can park in front of the arena or anywhere to the right of the driveway.

What do I need to wear?
Riders need to wear long pants and either riding boots or tennis shoes. Clothing should be well fitted so that it does not get hung up in the saddle when trying to mount or dismount.

What do I need to bring?
JLR Farm provides everything you need for riding. We have a variety of helmets to fit every shape of noggin! We do encourage our riders to purchase their own helmet after a couple of rides. Riders are also encourage to bring a drink with them, but be sure to remember to take it with you when you leave.
